RTX-AL4 Board

How to repair a RTX-AL4 Sensor driver board (Daikin/Rotex 5011537/5740204)

Very often, when a Rotex/Daikin HPSU fails with error codes E200 or E8100, the two 100uF capacitors on the little driver board are to blame.

The fact that those are rated 85°C only, and sit close to heated parts inside the HPSU, are not really helpful for their lifespan.

These instructions are provided “AS IS” and without any warranty of any kind.

The board

RTX-AL4 Board with original (defective) capacitors. (front & back)

Test the components

The defective capacitors, made by NOVER: 100µF, 63V, 85°C

Both are expected to have a capacity of 100µF each, but only 4µF remain. This is insufficient to provide the power required.

Replacements for capacitors

I prefer capacitors from Nichicon or Panasonic, both are rated for 105°C instead of 85°C.

  • NICHICON Elko UPW1J101MPD: Low ESR 0,256R 100uF 63V 10x12,5mm RM5
  • Panasonic Elko EEUFR1J101: FR 100uF 63V Kondensator 105°C Low ESR

Replace the 100µF capacitors

Verify that the new capacitors work correctly

Before installing the board back into its place, make sure that the caps did not get damaged by soldering.
